INDIA TREE PALOMA DORADA
The Mexican name for popcorn is paloma or "dove." Individual kernels of popped corn are called palomitas, "little doves." Corn, or maize, had its beginnings in South America many centuries ago. From there it spread throughout North America. Five thousand-year-old kernels of popping corn were discovered in a cave in New Mexico. Clay popcorn poppers made by the Zapotec people of Mexico have been found dating from 300 AD. Given its long history, popcorn can truly be considered the first great American snack food.
