Always a comforting dessert, fruit crumble is enhanced with fresh cranberries and mulled cider, providing just the right balance to bring out the best apple flavor.

Ingredients

Apple Cranberry Filling:

  • 1/2 cup apple cider
  • 3 tablespoons India Tree Mulling Spices
  • 1 whole India Tree 6-Inch Cinnamon Quill
  • 8 apples peeled and sliced
  • 1 cup fresh or frozen cranberries
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar, divided
  • 3 tablespoons flour

Crumble Topping:

  • 1 cup large flake oats
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup IndiaTree Light Muscovado Sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground India Tree 6-Inch Cinnamon Quill
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1/3 cup butter

Instructions

Apple Cranberry Filling:

  1. In a saucepan set over medium heat, bring cider, mulling spices, and cinnamon stick to a boil. Reduce heat. Simmer for 15 to 20 minutes or until mixture is reduced to 1/4 cup. Strain, reserve liquid and set aside.
  2. Preheat the oven to 350 F. Grease an 8-inch square baking dish.
  3. In a large bowl, toss apples with cranberries, sugar, and flour. Stir in cider mixture. Transfer to prepared pan.

Crumble Topping:

  1. In a separate bowl, toss oats with flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Cut in butter until crumbly. Top evenly over apple-cranberry mixture.
  2. Bake for 45 to 60 minutes or until apples are tender, the mixture is bubbling and the topping is golden brown.
