Always a comforting dessert, fruit crumble is enhanced with fresh cranberries and mulled cider, providing just the right balance to bring out the best apple flavor.
Ingredients
Apple Cranberry Filling:
- 1/2 cup apple cider
3 tablespoons India Tree Mulling Spices1 whole India Tree 6-Inch Cinnamon Quill8 apples peeled and sliced1 cup fresh or frozen cranberries1/2 cup granulated sugar, divided3 tablespoons flour
Crumble Topping:
- 1 cup large flake oats

1/3 cup IndiaTree Light Muscovado Sugar

1/4 teaspoon freshly ground India Tree 6-Inch Cinnamon Quill

1 pinch salt

1/3 cup butter

Instructions
Apple Cranberry Filling:
- In a saucepan set over medium heat, bring cider, mulling spices, and cinnamon stick to a boil. Reduce heat. Simmer for 15 to 20 minutes or until mixture is reduced to 1/4 cup. Strain, reserve liquid and set aside.
- Preheat the oven to 350 F. Grease an 8-inch square baking dish.
- In a large bowl, toss apples with cranberries, sugar, and flour. Stir in cider mixture. Transfer to prepared pan.
Crumble Topping:
- In a separate bowl, toss oats with flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Cut in butter until crumbly. Top evenly over apple-cranberry mixture.
- Bake for 45 to 60 minutes or until apples are tender, the mixture is bubbling and the topping is golden brown.
