Shakshuka is a North African and Middle Eastern meal of poached eggs in a simmering tomato sauce with spices. Super easy, healthy and takes less than 30 minutes to make.
Equipment
- Cast Iron Skillet
- Sharp knife
Heat:
- 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large cast iron skillet on medium heat
Dice:
- 1 medium onion and 1 red bell pepper
Add the onion and red bell pepper to the heated skillet, cook for 5 minutes or until translucent
Finely Chop:
- 4 garlic cloves,
Add to skillet along with:
- 2 teaspoons India Tree Paprika
- 2 teaspoon India Tree Cumin Seeds, toasted and ground
- 1/4 teaspoon India Tree Chili powder
Cook for an additional 1 minute.
Add:
- 1 28 oz can whole peeled tomatoes, use large spoon to break down the tomatoes
- 1 14.5 oz can diced tomatoes
- 1 tablespoon of India Tree fleur de sel Salt
- 1 teaspoon India Tree Tellicherry Pepper, Ground
- Bring sauce to a simmer
Grab:
- 6 Eggs
Use your large spoon to make 6 small wells in the sauce, crack eggs into each well.
Cover the pan and cook for 5-8 minutes, or until the eggs are done to your liking.
Chop:
- 1 bunch fresh cilantro
- 1 bunch fresh parsley
Garnish with chopped cilantro and parsley.
Additional toppings if desired could include
- Crumbled Feta Cheese
- Sliced Avocado
