Description
A chili you can be generous with. Aleppo has about half the heat of standard pepper flakes, with a fruity, faintly citric warmth underneath. The flakes are coarse and slightly oily, so they give up the most flavor when you bloom them in warm oil. Good on roasted vegetables, in braises, and anywhere you'd reach for red pepper flakes.
Aleppo – also called Halaby or Marash pepper – is a variety, not a single place. Ours is sourced from growers across the eastern Mediterranean, where it has been cultivated for centuries.
